Abstract: Objective To improve the medical staff's understanding of streptococcus suis by retrospective analysis of the clinical relevant data of patients with streptococcus suis caused by skin infection. Method The clinical data, laboratory results, bacterial culture and identification, imaging examination, diagnosis and treatment outcomes of 6 patients with Streptococcus suis caused by skin infection admitted to Shenzhen People's Hospital were retrospectively analyzed form February 2011 to February 2021, and the clinical characteristics were analyzed. Result All of the six patients were male, and all were infected by carrier pork through skin wound, and all of them were identified as streptococcus suis by blood culture or cerebrospinal fluid culture. Five patients had onset of meningitis, and the disease was well controlled by active antimicrobial therapy, and two patients had hearing impairment, and their hearing recovered after treatment. One patient developed rapidly and died due to shock. Conclusion Streptococcus suis can be infected by skin contact with carrier pork, and medical staff should improve the understanding of Streptococcus suis and facilitate early clinical diagnosis to effectively control the progression of the patient's disease..
