Abstract: Objective To summarize the chest CT characteristics of primary varicella pneumonia (PVP) in adult, and to improve the medical staff's understanding of this disease. Methods Chest CT images of 31 adult patients cared at Beijing You'an Hospital, Capital Medical University between January 2013 and March 2021 with varicella pneumonia were retrospectively analyzed and collected, and the imaging features of PVP were summarized. Results All the chest CT images of 31 patients with varicella pneumonia presented pulmonary nodules with halo sign, with diameters of 2-12mm. There was no trend in the distribution of pulmonary nodules in each lobe of the lungs, which were more common near the pleura of both lungs. And nodules with halo sign were typical manifestations. The lungs of 10 patients showed patchy ground glass density, and consolidation was observed in 2 patients with a slightly more serious condition. Conclusion The CT manifestations of adult PVP are mainly ground glass opacity nodules with halo sign.
