Progress in research and practice of molecular epidemiology of HIV-1

Abstract: This article reviews the progress in global HIV-1 molecular epidemiology research and practice in recent years. The current diversity, characteristics and trends of the evolution of HIV-1 subtypes, as well as the emerging recombinant viruses in the world and China are described. The novel national strategy of molecular transmission network that can help to accurately intervene the AIDS epidemics is emphasized. This article will provides relatively new literatures for public health professionals, medical doctors and laboratory workers engaged in AIDS prevention and control. A large number of literatures and conference news cited in this article can be used for further reference by readers.
