Interpretation of Guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of monkeypox (2022 Edition)

Abstract: Monkeypox is a zoonotic infectious disease caused by monkeypox virus, which mainly manifests as fever, Severe headache, lymphadenopathy, and rash. The disease were mainly prevalent in western and central Africa. Since May 2022, monkeypox outbreaks have occurred in non-endemic countries around the world, and there is community transmission. Most clinical processes of monkeypox are self-limiting, and rarely have serious complications, even to life-threatening. In order to improve the ability of early clinical identification and standardized diagnosis and treatment, the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China issued the Guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of monkeypox (2022 Edition). This paper reviews the relevant research process of monkeypox, and interprets the guidelines. The course covered the etiology, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, laboratory examination, diagnosis and differential diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of infection in medical institutions of monkeypox and etc, in order to improve the clinicians' understanding of monkeypox.
